I'm always debating whether I really need to buy this map right now, or should I save my money for skills/upgrades that might be required to progress from here.Ībilities and upgrades: This is the change that's most infuriating to me. But in this second one, you now have to "buy" maps.!!! With your spirit energy points. That reminds me -īuy maps: First game needed you to find a map fragment and place it on the map circle thingy to unlock maps. But now you have multiple quests and side-quests open at the same time, and some of the side-quests have hidden targets!! I'm left wondering whether I'm attempting a quest too early or am I missing a required skill or am I just lousy at this. Too "Open World": While the first game too was technically "open world" since you could go to any discovered part of the map anytime you wished, you always had one mission at one time. Not a big deal, but it kinda started a bad taste in my mouth. You now get "quests" and optional "side-quests". There are quite a few changes made in the game mechanics / flow that make it way worse, imo.įorced RPG + "Quests" model - While the first game played like a beautiful adventure puzzle-platformer, this second installment tries to be like an RPG by adding several character interactions. Rather than enjoying the game, I'm raging most of the time. I'm on my third day now and I'm largely disappointed. So, I was super excited to start playing will of the wisps right after that. Finished the Blind Forest in 5 days and loved every minute of it. I'm playing the Ori series, back to back.
